MT5 Credentials & Security
How Bull & Bear connects to MT5 and how to keep your trading account protected.
Last updated: 13 September 2026
1. Choosing an MT5 credential
Bull & Bear supports both MT5 investor/read-only passwords and master passwords. Investor/read-only access is preferred when your broker supports it because it limits account permissions.
A master password carries trading authority at the broker level. Bull & Bear is designed for analytics and monitoring and does not use that authority to submit, modify, or close trades.
2. Information used for the connection
A standard MT5 connection may require:
- Your MT5 account number.
- The exact broker server name shown in MT5.
- Your MT5 investor/read-only password or master password.
An incorrect server name or account number can prevent the connection from succeeding.
3. What Bull & Bear reads
Depending on the connected broker/account and available MT5 data, Bull & Bear may synchronize information such as balance, equity, profit/loss, margin, free margin, account status, open positions, completed trades, deposits/withdrawals, and historical performance needed for your dashboard.
4. Trading permissions and Bull & Bear behavior
Bull & Bear's MT5 connector is designed not to place new orders, change stop-loss or take-profit levels, close positions, transfer funds, or otherwise operate your trading account.
If you use a master password, remember that the credential itself still has trading authority at the broker level. Protect it accordingly, and use investor/read-only access instead when you prefer the additional permission limitation and your broker supports it.
5. Credential protection
Bull & Bear treats MT5 connection credentials as sensitive information. Credentials are intended to be processed only by authorized server-side components needed to maintain the requested connection and are not intended to be exposed in the public dashboard.
You should never send MT5 credentials through public chat, social media, screenshots, or unsecured messages.
6. Multiple devices
After an MT5 account has been connected to your Bull & Bear login, you can sign in to that same Bull & Bear account from another supported device or browser. You should not need to reconnect the same MT5 account merely because you changed devices.
7. Account ownership
An MT5 account is linked to the Bull & Bear user who connected it. If Bull & Bear reports that an MT5 account is already linked to a different Bull & Bear login, sign in with the Bull & Bear account that originally connected it or contact support if you believe the association is incorrect.
8. Disconnecting access
You may use the available Bull & Bear account controls to disconnect a supported MT5 connection. You can also change the MT5 password with your broker if you want to revoke credentials previously provided to Bull & Bear.
9. No security system is absolute
Bull & Bear uses security controls intended to protect customer information, but no internet-connected service can guarantee complete security. Protect your email account, use secure devices, review your broker account regularly, and contact us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
10. Support
For questions about an MT5 connection or account security, contact info@bullandbear.llc. Never include a password in a support email.
